Essence Advent Calendar 2017

I bought the Essence Advent Calendar for the first time in 2016 and I loved it! I am a huge Essence fan and I buy so many of their products. This Advent Calendar gave me the chance to try a few new products that I had not before. When I heard that they were bringing out another one in 2017 I knew that I had to get one.

I was quite happy with the first 6 days of the calendar. I received the I Heart Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara and the Longlasting Lipstick in I Am Yours! Essence makes really good mascaras and lipsticks! I also like having a nail file in every bag I own (pretty much) and I love the 4-in-1 ones! There was also an I Heart Trends mini nail polish in Me and My Snowflakes, and 4 mini makeup sponges. I don’t really use makeup sponges like this but I’ll try them out. There were also 3 small gift bags which are really cute. They are really only useful if you give someone Essence products for Christmas, as they are branded. But they are cute! So next year I will definitely be using them!

The next 6 days had another good assortment. I received another mini I Heart Trends mini nail polish in Santa Clause’s Surprise. There were also some Christmas gift tags which I will make use of next year as well. They are so cute! I received a pencil sharpener and a black Kajal Pencil. These Essence tweezers are adorable. They have little penguins on them and are so festive! This year I also received a Balmy Kiss lip balm in Treat Me Right.

For the next 6 days I received another 2 nail polishes. This time in the shades Hohoho My Love and The Xmas Nail Story. There was also a nail cream, in the most adorable packaging. Also, I love these really cute nail stickers. I use this face powder so I have no problems with receiving one in this calendar. However, this brown eyebrow pencil is a bit confusing because it isn’t really something that would work for everyone. I think that Advent Calendars should try and be as inclusive as possible and I don’t know if everyone could use this shade. I think it might be fine for me though!

For the last 6 days I received…surprise, another nail polish. This time in the shade Hello Nice to Glitter You. There was also a transparent lip liner. I love this because it lines your lips but you can use any colour lipstick without having to match the colour. Also, I got a matt lipstick in the shade Red-y or Not. I also got these pretty hair ties, which I cannot wait to use. The finger and bracelet tattoos are not something I plan on using, so maybe I can find something to do with them. The biggest disappointment of the ENTIRE Advent Calendar for me was Day 24. I got a compact mirror. You know, one of those mirror/hairbrush combos? In the previous Advent Calendar Day 24 was an entire eyeshadow palette so to have this as Day 24 was disappointing, to say the least.

So here are my overall thoughts on the Essence Advent Calendar 2017:

I loved most of the products which is a huge plus. There were things that I could have done without but I do understand that not everyone likes the same things.

I love nail polish but I feel as though 5 nail polishes was unnecessary. Last year there were 4 but they were full size at least, unlike this year where they were minis.

This Advent Calendar was worth the money – it definitely cost less to buy the Advent Calendar then it would have to buy everything separately. However, next year, Essence, could you please include LESS nail polish, some eyeshadow, and maybe a highlighter or a blush.

You can see what I got last year for days 1-12 hereΒ and days 13-24 here. I also bought an Essence Mystery Box and you can see what I got in that over here.

Did you have an Advent Calendar last year? Did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments below!

I love Essence and the products you got from the calendar seem great! Although I can relate to the nail polish “issue”, I think I got five from my Lumene Nordic Calendar and though that was a bit much, considering neither of these two brands is a nail polish focused brand. πŸ™‚

I also had an advent calendar from The Body Shop and have to say that although there were some great products as well, the overall experience was a bit of a let down, I got like 4-5 mini shower gels, a paper nail file(?!) and several small soap bars….

I just think that considering the amount of products that they have they could have given a bit more variety! I am so glad I am not alone with this nail polish overload haha! Ah I saw the ones from The Body Shop online but never got one. It’s so sad that it was a let down!

Essence is one of my favorite brands at the drugstore. You got some pretty things in you calendar. That red lipstick is looking gorgeous. The all about matte powder is great as well. I have used their lipsticks, that nude highlighter, and the blushes are so good. πŸ™‚

I love Essence! I have so many of their products and they are such a good brand. I am quite excited, and nervous, to try the red lipstick!
