Dear Kirsty,
It’s me here, your 26 year old self. You might be wondering why I’m writing to you but it’s because I want you to know what you can expect. You’ve just started university at Rhodes and it’s going pretty well. Now that lectures are underway and you’re only busy for half a day it seems good but it’s hard work.
Even though you’re studying Journalism, you’re actually going to become a teacher. Yes, after this year you’ll become a waitress for a year before you decide that teaching is what you want to do. Don’t worry; it’s a blessing. You’ll love being a teacher and you’ll get your dream job first time. We got lucky.
Before you enter the teaching world you’ll become an Au-Pair. The family that you get isn’t the right one for you; but that’s okay. The experience will teach you a lot and you’ll make friends and memories that will last a lifetime. If you had got a different family then you probably wouldn’t have gone home and we wouldn’t have our dream job. Everything happens for a reason. We’re trying to believe in that more now.
You know that boy you’re with now? It won’t last. But you won’t be sad when you break up. You’ll know when it’s time; you just both want different things out of life. Don’t regret it. The relationship will teach you a lot about yourself and about what you want out of life.
I’m still single. I know, I’m shocked too. But I want to tell you not to place so much on getting married; it will lead to disappointment and you’ll just start waiting around.
There are so many amazing things that are going to happen in your life and I promise you, you’ll meet the most incredible people and make amazing memories. Always remember that no matter what happens, I’ll be with you every step of the way. I hope you remember how much you’re worth.
Love,
Kirsty x

Thank you! Oh how different life might be haha x
This is a great post idea! I would have so much to tell my 18 years old self. Coz I learnt so much in the past years at uni, at work, while living abroad… SO agreed on relationships. No focus on them coz there are better things to come and the right person will come along too! Great post! xx C&K
Thank you! It’s great to be able to look back on things back then and realise that they all made you stronger x
I love reading these kind of posts! I’m amazed by how positive you are about your experiences – it makes mine look super depressing haha.
Thank you! I am sure your experiences are great! x
