Makeup Empties Part 1

Does anyone else store up empties for blog posts and then forget about them and find them months later? Because that is exactly what happened to me with these products. I forget I had them and when I was cleaning my room the other day I found a whole box. On the plus side, I can now throw away a big box that I had lying around my room!

Although I used to do beauty empties on my blog I have now decide to only stick to makeup empties so that makes this the first makeup empties post on my blog!

Essence Keep It Perfect Make-Up Fixing Spray

I use this pretty much every day to set my makeup but honestly I am not sure how well it works for that. I don’t see much difference between when I do and don’t use it. However, it works really well to help intensify eye-shadow so I would recommend it if only for that!

Essence Colour Correcting Liquid Concealer in Green

This works really well with neutralizing the redness on my face. It blends out really nicely and doesn’t leave you looking like Shrek. I have already purchased a new one so it’s safe to say it works! It is also not expensive which is always a bonus!

2True 3 in 1 Concealer

I have not seen this brand in the shops since I bought this concealer. This is a pretty old one but as far as I remember it worked fine. It was my first liquid concealer and the colour was a good shade. I have had a look and they do have a website with loads more products which I would actually like to try.

Essence XXXL Lip Gloss

I honestly cannot remember what shade this was in but I really do like these lip-glosses. This colour was beautiful and worked well even on it’s own so there was no real need to put a lipstick underneath as this shade does give your lips a good colour.

Catrice Eyebrow Filler

This is a really good product on those days that you don’t feel like doing your eyebrows. It just gives them a little bit of colour and helps shape them a little bit. The brush is not tiny though so it isn’t the best for getting into the smaller parts of your brow.

Rimmel 3D Extra Lash Mascara

This is a really good mascara. It lengthens the lashes nicely and gives them a lot of volume as well. The brush is long and relatively thin so it really gets into the inner corners of your eyes.

MAC In Extreme Dimension 3D Black Lash Mascara

I still cannot believe that I paid his much for a mascara. However, this is one of the best mascaras that I have used. The brush was really good at getting to every single eyelash and it really lengthened them as well as gave them more volume.

Anyone else struggle to find the perfect foundation? Trying to find a good formula and a shade that matches you perfectly is a task and a half. I have gone through a fair few!

NYX Stay Matte but Not Flat

I had this in the shade Creamy Natural and I really liked it as a foundation but it did end up oxidizing quite a bit so by the end of the day my face and neck were two different colours. Maybe I should try a different shade?

Essence Camouflage 2 in 1 Makeup and Concealer

I had this foundation in the shade 10 Ivory Beige and it was a pretty good match! I think that the only reason I didn’t repurchase this is that I wanted to try something new although I think it did oxidize a bit as well. I actually compared the NXY and Essence foundations if you want to have a read over here.

Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation

I bought this after a recommendation from a friend (shoutout to Melanie 😛 ) and I have to say that it’s pretty good. It’s not full coverage but it is buildable so I guess you could get it there if you wanted. There is also a pretty decent shade range for this product.

Essence All About Matt Fixing Compact Powder

You probably think that by the picture above I think that this is the holy grail of face powders, right? The honest truth is that I actually don’t! I like this powder, sure, but it has terrible flash back so whenever I take a photo at night I look like a ghost. I received one from an Advent Calendar though, and one of these broke and Essence sent me a replacement. I am still using this because it works well but I would like a powder with no flash back!

Blistex DCT

This is, without a doubt, the best lip product that I have used. If you get dry lips then this is definitely for you. If you don’t suffer from dry lips and are just looking for an every day lip balm, this works well for that too! It is just fantastic!

Blistex Fruit Smoothies Triple Tropical

I bought this when I was in America and I loved it. It worked really well and the scent was incredible. I would definitely recommend this if you can find it. Sadly I have not seen these in South Africa so this is a product that I will be unable to repurchase.

Pritt Lip Ice

Honestly, this lip-ice was incredibly average. It was given to me by a child that I taught. This product was grape scented and flavoured which was fun and I love the novelty look of the packaging but the product itself was average.

Jelly Belly Buttered Popcorn Lip Balm

The scent of this was spot on! I bought this at Primark and I loved using it! It was a pretty decent lip balm but it had the novelty of the scent and packaging and I am a sucker for a novelty item. I probably wouldn’t buy it again just because we don’t have Primark here 🙁

So there is my whopper collection of makeup empties. Have you used any of these products? Would you be interested in using any of them? What products have you finished up lately? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,

Kirsty x
