Celebrities bring out makeup all the time. It’s a pretty easy way to make money, let’s be honest. People will buy it just because it’s associated with a certain celebrity. Well, I am no different. I bought this makeup because it was in a really cool One Direction tin with Louis Tomlinson on it. I honestly did not know if the makeup inside was going to be any good but I knew I really wanted it. Today I am going to share my thoughts with you and see if it was a worthwhile purchase, or a waste of money.
Let’s start with the eye-shadows. There are 6 of these, with pretty decent colours. I love that they are all named after One Direction songs! I swatched them for you so you could see them properly and they are really pigmented!
They are also really soft and easy to apply which makes me really happy. My only complaint is that after I had swatched them they seemed to be losing their sparkle – the amount of glitter on the top wasn’t carried through the entire product. Overall though the colours are gorgeous!
Next I moved onto the lip glosses. These are really soft, and not sticky which is what I normally find with these kinds of lip products. I really love the colours – so much so that I used one before I even thought about doing this post! I do wish that they had another colour instead of two nudey colours but that is a personal preference!
The two pinks are definitely my favourite and I can see myself reaching for them a lot. Of the two nudey colours I much prefer the darker one as the other one seems pretty clear, almost white, and doesn’t really have much colour payoff. Also, the reason there is a gauge out of the one colour is because I used the brush that is in the set and, as the product is so soft, it kind of just went right through it. Conclusion? Use your finger to apply!
You also get a lip gloss top coat which actually helps the lip gloss stay on for longer which is impressive! It looks so pretty in the photo though that I might want to wear it as is! In the box there is also an eye pencil which, to my surprise, was actually really soft on the skin. I always expect pencils like that to be hard and scratchy but I was pretty impressed with this one.
The nail polishes leave me with mixed feelings. They are both glittery type colours, one more so than the other. The red one is in the shade Stole my Heart which is described as a ‘magenta pink shimmer.’ I like this one but I feel as though I would probably need to go over it again to get the coverage that I want, and let’s be honest, the bottle isn’t that big!
The other nail polish is in the shade Alive and is described as ‘multi-coloured glitter flakes.’ I like this one but I don’t know if I could wear it by itself. It doesn’t distribute the flakes evenly (obviously) which makes me feel as though it might be better over a colour, even a light one.
My overall opinion?
I definitely feel as though I did not waste my money. This One Direction makeup is actually pretty decent and, when I look at what I paid for it, a pretty good bargain.
