Your Problems Matter

Problems

Do you know what really frustrates me? When people belittle other people’s problems just because they or someone they know is going through something worse. With everything going on in the world a lot of people seem to think that if your problem is smaller than the person next to you then it doesn’t matter as much. Can we please stop doing that? Can we please acknowledge that everyone’s problems are important? Everyone’s problems are different and to you it might seem small – but to them it could be everything.

When someone tells you about something that is going on it is not your cue to tell them that your life is worse. It is not the time to tell them that they’re lucky that’s all they have to worry about. Life is not a competition. Everyone has different problems and everyone’s problems are important to them.

On the other hand, your problem might be the most important thing in the world to you but might not be on another person’s radar. I know it’s frustrating when you tell someone something and they don’t seem interested. However they might also be going through something so try not to be too hard on them either.

I know that it can be frustrating when someone is going on about something that you find trivial and all you want to do is tell them that things could be worse. Yes, they could be but they could also be better. Let’s work together to help each other to overcome our problems instead of trying to compete for who has the biggest one.

I know that this post has been a bit rambly (I don’t think that’s a word…but it should be!). I just really needed to say these things. I know that I am guilty of doing this. If someone tells me what’s going on in their life it’s easy for me to think that I have bigger problems. But to that person what they are going through is the most important thing to them.

So there’s just my rant for the day! If you have anything that you need a good rant about leave it in the comments below!

Love,

Kirsty x

I totally agree with you. Sometimes people get caught in their own problems so they forget that they are not only people having them. I think that it’s important to communicate and talk about it because maybe we can help each others. xo

It’s hard to accept that sometimes other people just are not aware of your own problems. I think ranting is a good way to feel better in the short term. Glad you were about to use your blog to work it out. <3

This is so true i think we need to take a step back and think to them it is a big deal just because you have bigger problems that doesn’t take away from this.

Such an insightful post as usual! I love your personal/lifestyle/advice posts the most, it’s so true. Of course we must make sure we are aware of our privileges and be grateful for our lives, but that doesn’t mean we can’t stumble sometimes or feel down. Bad things still happen </3

I've been ill with pneumonia recently and might possibly have a chronic illness, most people have been supportive and so kind but some people just throw at me 'well I'm more severely ill' , 'your life is great so what if you are ill?' 'You're ill all the time stop moaning about it'. Although I'm aware of my privelge and am super grateful for what I have and what I can get through hard work, it still hurts when people cannot except that you're suffering a little 🙁

Basically what I am trying to say is, this post is spot on and I really relate to it right now ~ so thank you <3 xxxx

Ah thank you so much for all of the kind words, they mean a lot! Ah I am so sorry to hear that and also to hear that people would act like that. It just gets to me because everyone has their own struggles and we should be supportive instead of trying to compete for who has it worse! I am so glad you enjoyed this post and you know where to find me if you want to talk <3 x
