Sedgefield Craft and Farmers’ Market

While I was in Plett last week we went through to Sedgefield and walked around the Sedgefield market. It was about an hour away so I listened to my iPod and relaxed on the way.

We got there relatively early in the morning and had already decided to have breakfast there so as soon as we arrived we set out on our quest! My family all opted for a traditional breakfast with eggs, bacon and the lot but as I do not eat that I had a look around and found D’s Soul Food where I found a delicious breakfast of muesli, yoghurt and fruit…lots of it! It was only R25 which is really inexpensive for everything that was crammed into this cup! I had to take the strawberries out just so that I could mix it all together! You can find the Facebook page for D’s Soul Food here.

After breakfast we walked around for a while looking at all of the stalls and crafts. I didn’t take as many photos of the market as I wanted to but hopefully these will give you some idea of what it looks like.

While we were walking we came across a fudge stall. The Fudgemaster had free sample pieces so obviously we stopped…who wouldn’t?! We tasted a few different flavours and then bought quite a few bags! The man at the stall was so lovely about me taking some photos so I have some drool-worthy pictures to share.

If you think it looks good just know that it tastes even better!  This fudge was also R20 a packet which is absolutely nothing for decent, melt-in-your-mouth fudge! Here are just some of the interesting flavours that were on offer:

  • Fynbos Honey
  • Milk Tart
  • Rose Geranium
  • Nutella (This is what I got and it is DELICIOUS)

Have a look at the Facebook page here to see more delicious flavours!

There is also live music at the Sedgefield Market and a great spot for children to play. Apart from the jungle gym there is also a small train that goes for rides around the same area of the market. There are 3 different sections to visit. There is a craft market, a craft and food market, and then a farmers’ market which sells amazing fresh produce and other delicious goodies like the pancakes we had! You will definitely find something for everyone here.

If you are in the area then I would definitely recommend this market as it is such an inexpensive outing for the whole family!

Have you been to the Sedgefield market? Let me know your favourite fudge flavour in the comments below!

Your breakfast looked absolutely delicious! Far better than a fry-up, I’m sure! Your photos are really gorgeous, looks like it was a lovely sunny day! I’m a big fan of vanilla fudge but I have to admit that Nutella flavour sounds divine, I need to find somewhere that sells it! Thanks for sharing!

Your photos are amazing. I wish I could go there. I love farmers markets but there’s a distinct lack of them where I live. I may need to go searching as you’ve made me want to go to some!

All the photos and blog you refer to here are only 2 of the 3 market on this Sedgefield node. Featured are the Mosaic Flea Market as well as the Scarab Craft Market. The missing market not mentioned is the original, dedicated farmers market, the award winning Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market. The three markets are separately owned and managed, all operating on Saturday morning.

Thank you 🙂 I did go to all three but must have left out the Wild Oats market somehow! I will look into it 🙂
