Stuck in this Spot

Travel-min

I don’t really know how to word this post so I am going to write and just hope that the words come out the way that I intend. Have you ever felt stuck? Like there is so much world to explore and just not enough time to do it in? Now I know that, as a teacher, I have more holidays than the average person but that doesn’t really help much. See, living in South Africa it is incredibly difficult to just hop on a plane to an exotic destination. We have visas, and expensive plane fares to get past first. No spontaneous trips to Scotland for us. No Amsterdam for the weekend.

Now, for those of you who might ask why I don’t explore my own country instead, I have. Granted, I have not been everywhere in the country but I have been to a fair few places. And I don’t want to stay in the same place. I want to travel. I want to get on a plane and travel for half a day, and get off somewhere where people speak differently. Where people are going about their daily lives, not noticing me walking through, in awe of everything.

I love to travel and I feel like there is so much of the world out there that I have yet to see. So much of the world that is unexplored. I want to go on adventures and find out more about myself. I want to meet new people and make new friends. Friends that I never would have met if it weren’t for travel. I just want to know that there is more than this provincial life 😉

So while I dream of places far away, and people that I have not met yet, let me know if you are also one of these people. If you are also thinking about far off places and people unknown. I could sure do with talking to someone about all of the adventures we have yet to take.

If you could get on a plane right now where would you go and why? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,

Kirsty x

I often feel the same way gal! It feels so unfair seeing everyone in Europe talking about just hopping on the train or a 1hr plane flight and being somewhere totally new…I’m in Australia so if I fly one hour I’m still in the same state haha! Trying to go anywhere from here is so ridiculously expensive and I often feel like I’m stuck as well! But the day will come when we get to live out all our travel dreams and it will be so worth it when we do! If I could go anywhere right now it would probably be New Zealand-it’s my home country and I am missing it so much right now! xx

haha same here! If I fly for one hour I am definitely not in a different country! I would love to travel more but visas make things so much more difficult!

I’d love to go to Canada! I remember watching a tv show when I was younger about a family that had moved there from the UK. I was completely taken in by this beautiful country and ever since have wanted to visit. My in-laws are going in a few weeks and I’m sooooo jealous! I often get the urge to just up-sticks and leave but, you know, adulting and responsibilities and all that ? X

I would love to go to Canada as well! Let’s just ignore our adult responsibilities and go?! haha!

I guess I have the opportunity to do these things, though perhaps not the funds to do them with. Also when everything is around you waiting to be explored it is very easy to leave it to another time, thinking that it will always be there for you. If I could go anywhere right now it would just be somewhere hot, that is the only requirement!

My problem is mainly visas. I need one for pretty much everywhere that I want to go and they are expensive and a mission to get!

I love everything about this post – the honesty and the sheer desire to be ELSEWHERE for a while, exploring and experiencing something totally new and different. I’m right there with you, an American girl with a wanderlust larger than my country and continent. I’ve got a bucket list a mile long, and that’s without me having the time to even fill in all the details.

Just know you’re not alone in the wish to see and do and feel all the varieties of life.

Thank you! I am glad I am not alone. Travelling is just so hard when your passport is limited haha
