Things to do while waiting in a queue

Today I went to apply for a new passport. We got there at what seemed like a good time. 3 hours later I walked out, having finally renewed it. Well technically I still have to wait to receive it but, for today, the queueing is finished. Today I went with my mum so at least I had someone to talk to but when I go back I will more than likely go alone. So I came up with a few ideas of things that you can do while you are waiting in a (long) queue. Some of these are decent options and some…well they’re just for fun 😛

  • annoy your friends by giving them minute by minute updates of where you are in the queue
  • break out into song (people will appreciate it 😉 )
  • count the floor tiles
  • create a to-do list for when you’re eventually finished in the queue
  • do your daily exercise
  • draw
  • knit – at least you’ll have something to show for your time
  • learn a language (if you’ve ever been to Home Affairs during peak time you know this is a possibility)
  • make friends
  • play naughts and crosses with a stranger
  • read a book
  • tinder (if you’re single then you might as well find a date while you’re at it)
  • word puzzles (crossword/word search)
  • write a book
  • write blog posts

So there are just some fun, silly, and helpful things you can do while waiting in a queue. Hopefully you won’t be in the queue for too long next time. However, if you are you can always come and have a little read of my blog 😉

When was the last time you were in a long queue? What did you do to pass the time? Let me know in the comments below!
