I haven’t been on holiday to Durban in about 15 years. However, one of my favourite people, Sarah, lives there so I decided to go and visit her. I flew up on the Saturday evening and flew home on the Tuesday afternoon so it was a pretty short visit but it was so much fun!
I thought that I would do a post on a few really lovely things to do in Durban if you are short on time and want to see a few different things in the city.
The Lighthouse

Even if you are not into the beach, you should definitely take a walk down to the beaches in Durban. They are really pretty and there are loads of restaurants and places to walk if you don’t want to get full of sand. There is also a really lovely lighthouse which provides the backdrop for wonderful photos. Trust me when I say that you need to get at least one photo of this.
Moses Mabhida Stadium

Sarah and I went to the Moses Mabhida Stadium and had a bit of a walk around. It is not a bad looking stadium however I do think that our one in Port Elizabeth is better 😉 The one really great thing about this stadium is that there is so much to do! They have restaurants, a gym, and a variety of tours. Sarah and I went up the SkyCar and I would 100% recommend this. It is a short ride to the top and the views are amazing! You have a 360°view of Durban with the beach on one side and the suburbs on the other. You also have a wonderful view of Kings Park.

Minitown
Minitown is exactly as the name suggests. A mini town. It is a miniature version of Durban and it is really cute! They have so much to see! I wish I could show you more photos of it (I took about 100) but it really would be more fun if you went to experience it yourself. Entrance for adults is R30 and they only accept cash so make sure that you have some on you!

Château Gâteaux
We came here for a quick coffee (I got a cappuccino) before I left to go back home and I am so happy that we did. There was so much of a selection though that I took quite a while to decide what I wanted. How could I not?! Everything looked so delicious! I eventually decided on the Passionate Lemon Cheesecake. It was really good, so light and fluffy and…healthy! I mean just look at that fruit 😉

I also went to Gateway, Starbucks, and Milky Lane while I was there and can highly recommend any of these! There is so much more to do in Durban but as I only really had 2 days I feel as though I got a lot done. Also, I had an amazing time seeing an old friend again which was what the trip was all about!
Have you ever been to Durban? If you’re a Durban local then what do you enjoy doing? Let me know in the comments below!
Love,
Kirsty x
