EC Meet Up 2017

This past weekend I attended the EC Meet Up for bloggers from the Eastern Cape. It was the first blogging event that I had ever been to so I was really excited! It was held at The Plantation which is a really beautiful venue in Port Elizabeth. When I arrived I received a goodie bag and a name tag with my name, and my blog name. I went inside and found the one other person that I knew there. The inside was really beautifully decorated and made for great photos!

There was so much going on and there is so much to tell you! I think that I am going to start with the negatives because there are so few of them and I want to focus on the positives!

The entry way to The Plantation is not big enough for two cars so trying to drive into the venue while someone was coming out was extremely difficult. It did not help the anxiety I already had about arriving at this place by myself. Obviously this had nothing to do with the actual meet up but rather the venue.

We were each given one bottle of water but someone took mine and I could not find any other water so I didn’t have any to drink. However, if someone hadn’t taken mine that would not have been a problem.

The only other negative was that it seemed as though all of the other tables received a notebook and pen except for mine. I always have a notebook in my bag but had accidentally taken it out so I couldn’t take notes.

Look at this beautiful table decor! There were flowers everywhere! There were gorgeous arrangements on the inside tables as well as the outside ones! You can definitely tell that they were catering for gorgeous photographs 😉

Now on to the positives of the EC Meet Up; of which there are many! There were loads of free things, which is always a bonus, and which I will be speaking about in another post later this week! There was also a… pancake bar! With so many different toppings and options it was hard to try and decide what to have!

As you can see, I had a little bit of (almost) everything! I also wanted to try and make it pretty for a photo which was difficult when I just wanted to pile things on!

There was an area where you could have as much tea and coffee as you liked and obviously I made use of it! My only regret is that I didn’t try out more different kinds of tea while I was there haha!

As I don’t eat meat I was catered for and for breakfast I was given a tower of eggplant (I think), mushrooms and spinach! I mean just look at the presentation of it!

There were also other pastries on the tables but I didn’t have any. Don’t ask me why. Looking back on it I regret it so much because look at how delicious they look!

We had two guest speakers both of which gave some really valuable advice and definitely made me think of a few things that I want to change about my blog. They also gave me some peace of mind about things that I had been wondering about with regards to my blog.

Also, I had the proudest moment blog wise that I have ever had! People actually recognised me…from my blog! It was such an incredible experience because I realised that people actually take notice of my blog, and my social media. It meant so much more to me than I could actually even express!

Thank you so much to everyone involved in organising the EC Meet Up! I had such an amazing time at my first bloggers event and I cannot wait until the next one!

Did any of you go to the EC Meet Up? Have you been to any blogger meet ups before? Do you have a lot where you live? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,

Kirsty x

This was also my first one! Your pictures are beautiful <3 My battery decided to die quite rapidly once I got there, so I took minimal photos.

I was also taken aback when 2 people were like: Oh wow I read your blog! Like…EEEK…me? My blog?? I consider myself a newbie and I was literally battling major anxiety going to this event, but I'm glad I went. All us first timers seem to have felt the same.

Regrets – Did not get a 2nd pancake. Did not have a 2nd cappucino. Did not mingle a bit (Super shy). Did not try any of the pastries either.

Thank you so much! It is so lovely when someone acknowledges your hard work! I am with you on every one of those regrets haha! Next time we need to stick together and fix that! 😉
