Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas

Christmas time fills many people with dread because they think about all of the people that they need to buy presents for. If you are struggling to budget better during this season then I have some tips for you on that. However, I think that there is this misconception that the more money you spend on a gift the more you care about someone. Well that’s not true. At all. You can spend very little on gifts and still show someone that you care about them. Here are some inexpensive gift ideas to help you do just that.

Assist Their Hobby – If they enjoy crafting, baking, cooking, why not buy them something that they could use for that? This shows that you care enough about them to take an interest in what they enjoy. It doesn’t have to cost a lot because it’s all about the thought behind it.

Bake Cookies – You can bake a few large batches of cookies and share them out between your friends/family. This won’t cost a lot but your hard work won’t go unnoticed and will (hopefully) be appreciated.

Craft It Out – Can you sew? Why not sew some bags/tea towels/cushion covers? You can personalise them so that they will all be unique.

DIY Food – Instead of making the cookies you could give the ingredients needed to make their own. By layering the ingredients into a mason jar, or a clear Christmas bauble, you can present it in a really beautiful way as well. This also works well with hot chocolate mix.

Get Arty – If you are an artist of some sort then why not draw/paint a picture for someone. This shows that you really thought about the person and created a one of a kind design just for them.

Hot Drinks – If the person you know is a hot drink lover you could get them a coffee mug and fill it with some biscuits, marshmallows, or some of the hot drink itself so they can make their own tea, coffee, hot chocolate in their new mug. It could be a 3 in 1 gift.

Movie Night – Create a pack with everything that someone could need for a movie – a drink, popcorn, snacks. If you can find a good, and inexpensive movie then throw that in there too. A cool popcorn bowl to put everything into is a winner too!

Sharpie Mugs – This is totally different from the previous one, okay! Buy plain mugs and draw your own creations on them with Sharpies. This is super easy and you can create different ones. Or you can buy ready made novelty coffee mugs and personalise them with Sharpies.

Survival Kits – There are so many different ideas for survival kits and this is a fun and thoughtful gift. You can make these for different people and personalise them to each one. Pinterest will be your friend on this one.

Sweet Treats – Give someone a jar filled with their favourite sweets. You can even buy a few different kinds and share them between everyone. By taking the time to make sure everyone gets what they like it shows thoughtfulness and love. Also, presenting these in a jar means so much more than just giving it to someone in the store bought box.

I hope that these inexpensive gift ideas have given you some ideas on what to get people for Christmas. If you have any other inexpensive gift ideas then please share them in the comments below!

  1. Wonderful ideas Kirsty.

For a teacher’s gift Mia put sachets of Hug-in-a-mug around the edge on the inside of a big mason/cookie jar and then filled it with a mix of Cape cookies. Hope this explanation makes sense lol

    1. Thank you! That sounds like an amazing present! I would have loved that!!

  2. Doing something yourself or personalizing it makes every present so much better! I know I’ll bake cookies for my work place as there are waaay too many people there to buy presents haha
