Whenever we want to improve our lives the first thought, at least for me, is to change almost everything in a massive way. This rarely works because we try and take on too much at once. However, spending some time making small changes and creating new habits can end up making a huge difference.
10 Minute Clean
This is a game changer. 10 minutes doesn’t seem like a long time but when you’re spending 10 minutes every day cleaning your house, it makes a huge difference. Also it means that your house is less likely to become messy because you’re always doing something.
Clean as You Cook
This is the best way to cook because it means that when you’ve finished cooking your kitchen is already pretty clean so you can actually enjoy your food without having a dirty kitchen at the back of your mind.
Do Something You Love Every Day
10 minutes. That’s all you need. Take this time to do something that you genuinely love, even if you have a busy day. If you know that you’re going to have a busy day then wake up 10 minutes earlier.
Drink Tea Calmly
When you’re drinking your morning tea (coffee/hot chocolate) drink it calmly and take a few moments for yourself. Instead of just drinking it as part of a habit, take it in and actually enjoy it.
Get Moving
This one might seem obvious, and also might lead to a groan but it’s actually a really important habit. Find some form of exercise that you like and make it work for you. There are literally thousands of options.
Have Boundaries
There are many ways to create boundaries and many reasons to do it but I’m speaking specifically about work. When you leave your job at the end of the day, you focus on yourself and your home life. Having a good work/life balance is incredibly necessary.
Make Your Bed
By making your bed as soon as you wake up it starts your day out right, makes your room look cleaner and instantly makes you feel more relaxed.
Read a Physical Book
Not only is reading one of the best activities, but it also allows you to get off your phone. Reading on your phone just makes you tempted to quickly check your messages or watch a reel or ten.
Use a Calendar
I use a calendar for everything. It doesn’t matter if it’s online or on paper, both work. This allows you to keep every appointment and deadline. It’s not just for work, it works for friend dates and family commitments as well.
Write a To-Do List
This allows you to keep your life organised and also gives you a sense of accomplishment when you’ve finished with something. Honestly, this might be one of my favourite habits.
I could probably write a list of 100 things to do to make a difference in your life. However, I don’t think many people would read that. Create these small habits and life will only get better (I hope, don’t quote me on that).
