My Next Chapter: Getting Lost in Big City Lights

airport job

A year ago I moved back home. I had lived in Poland for 7 years and I needed a change, a chance to start somewhere new. When I left Poland I wasn’t 100% sure of where I was heading to next. I spent months in South Africa applying for jobs and having loads of interviews. During this time I was offered a few jobs. While they all seemed great there was always a reason they didn’t work out. Of course this led to me becoming a bit despondent, but I kept on going. I knew that the right job was out there for me; I just needed to find it.

Then I had an interview that was super early in the morning. I had the interview while the rest of my household was still asleep. I really liked the sound of the school and the interview turned into a second interview. At this time, I had two job offers and both were for really great schools. The one job would have taken me somewhere more familiar and would have been an easier transition (only because I had visited that country before). However, that’s not the one that I chose.

I chose to move to the other side of the world where I had no support system, didn’t know a single person, and would spend a fortune on flights, and you know what? I am so happy with the decision that I made. My new adventure is going to take me to a brand new country. Somewhere with a different language, culture, and way of life. While I feel slightly terrified (as is normal when moving somewhere new), I am also so excited for the challenges ahead. I know this is the right move for me and I am so grateful that I am getting this opportunity.

I know by now you’re probably wondering why I’m making you read so much nonsense just to find out where I’m moving to, so here goes. This year I will be starting my new job as a teacher in… Japan!

If you have any suggestions on what to do in Japan then let me know. For now, you can follow my adventures on instagram.
