Blogmas Day 2: Secret Santa Gift Ideas Everyone Will Love

secret santa gift ideas

Blogmas Day 2 brings Secret Santa gift ideas for your colleagues, friends, or family. Secret Santa is such a fun way to give gifts. It’s also a much less expensive way to celebrate Christmas. Only buying a gift for one person instead of everyone you know can save you a lot of money. Lots of work places do this, and sometimes families also prefer to give presents in this way.

If you know the person you’re buying for then try and make the gift as personal as possible. Normally in the work place, you’ll write some ideas for your Secret Santa which makes it easier, but if you’re buying a gift for someone without knowing who then try and make it as generic as possible, while still making it something special.

All of the gifts that I’m sharing in this post are going to be items that are under R200, £10, $15. I really don’t know how much Secret Santa gifts cost so if your budget is higher then maybe you can just get a few smaller gifts.

Christmas Decorations

This one is unusual and tricky to get right. However it’s also a great idea. If the person you’re buying for loves Christmas then try and find something different for them that they can use to decorate their home. The bonus here is that if they don’t like it they only have to use it once a year!

Comfort Basket

Think of all things cosy and comforting. Ideas? Face masks, socks, bath bombs, hair masks, lip masks. Something nice that someone might not buy for themselves is always a good idea.

Gift Cards

If you don’t really know the person very well then this gift is fine. Or if you know the person and you know that they’re very fussy. However, if you’re giving a gift card then you need to make it for the full value of the Secret Santa budget – you can get away with a cheaper gift if you buy someone an actual gift on sale.

Hobby Helper

Hopefully the person you’re buying for has some hobbies. That way you can get something that they’re almost guaranteed to love. You can get things like colouring books, puzzles, baking trays which are all great gifts and easy to get right.

Novelty Games

There are some absolutely ridiculous games out there that you could get for someone. Something that they would probably never buy but would love. Again, know your audience. These types of games are definitely NOT for everyone.

Pot Plant

Please make sure that the person you’re buying this for is willing to look after a plant. I’ve received so many plants as gifts and every single one of them has died because I either forgot to water it, have it too much water, or went on holiday.

Stationery

Personally I’m a huge fan of stationery! Notebooks, pens, highlighters – if it’s cute and novelty then so much the better. Again, try and find something different that someone might seem impractical to buy for themselves but would love to have.

Tea/Coffee

If you know that someone loves tea or coffee then this is a great option. Get them a new kind of tea to try (risky but could pay off) and maybe some biscuits to go with it. If they’re more of a coffee drinker then maybe some pods (if you know what coffee machine they have) or a flavoured coffee syrup.

Travel Mug

A travel mug is a great gift for people who have to go in to work every day. It’s practical, and you can never have too many. Well maybe you can, but I still like them.

Treats

You could make a nice little hamper of things for someone full of treats. A fun way of doing this is to have a theme. Maybe everything that you choose is blue, or maybe everything is strawberry flavoured – just a small twist on a classic.

If you were reading through this list wondering who would want these things then the answer is…someone! Everyone is different which is why I tried to make as varied a list as possible. If you’ve received a great gift before for Secret Santa then please let me know!
