Guess who’s back, back again?! Kirsty’s back… with another blog post about how much dating apps suck but I still have to use them because I haven’t found a husband yet.
As the Fairy Godmother from Shrek once sang… Where have all the good men gone?
I enjoyed writing the first post so much that I thought I would come back with a Part 2. Let’s dive right in.
You’re not for me if you have “not here for your insta” in your bio. Why do people think that not having Instagram makes them cool? It doesn’t. Okay, we get it, you don’t want someone who is just looking to boost their followers. Fair enough, but honestly, I’m not going to ask you to follow me on Instagram so… pass.
When someone says they’re looking for a Polish or Eastern European girl – yes, this happens more often than you think. Well, I am neither of these things, so I’ll swipe left – wouldn’t want to waste your time. Granted, maybe that’s just a preference, or they think it makes them more appealing but honestly, why would I want to swipe left knowing that you’re looking for someone else?! Sure, some people prefer some nationalities to others, I do too, but this could mean you miss out on someone great.
One of my pet peeves on dating apps is where the guy goes “don’t be boring and just say hi” or, if on Bumble, “remember, girls have to write first hehe.” Fist of all, I hate it when guys type hehe. Second of all, if you’re expecting a girl to write first then don’t tell me what to say. Find a dating app where you’re writing first, or send a compliment instead of messaging. If you don’t want me to be boring and “start with hi” then be man enough to start a conversation.
Why should I guess anything about you? When guys want me to play “guess my nationality” and other such nonsense – it’s just frustrating. You are really not so cool that I’m going to sit and play 21 questions just to find out such a small detail about you. On dating apps you have a place to write a bio – use it! Don’t expect girls to do all of the work just because you can’t be bothered to write a few sentences about yourself.
I get that people enjoy doing personality tests and that’s totally fine! However, if that’s all you have in your bio and I have to go and Google it to figure out what on earth you’re talking about then… that’s a no from me. Not everyone is the living embodiment of their personality test results.
Being a single adult is tough and trying to find a good man these days seems more difficult than Tottenham trying to win a trophy.
P.S. If anyone is looking for a wife then feel free to let me know! 😂
