Things to Be Grateful For

picture1

Today I spoke to my Grade 2’s about Christmas and about how Christmas isn’t about what you get but more about what you give. I spoke to them about how some people don’t have much at all and how they should be grateful for the things they have instead of being sad about the things they don’t. Having thought about this I decided to do a post of my own about the things that I am grateful for!

Car

Okay, so I don’t actually have my own car but I do have the use of a car which is a lot more than some other people. We don’t really have decent public transport where I live so I do not know what I would do if I had no way of getting around,

Family

Something that makes me so sad is thinking about people who don’t have family. If you do have one and you don’t talk then try and reach out to them, if you can. No family is perfect but knowing that you have one is something special.

Food

Now this might seem quite random but I have breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. I also have the occasional snack when I feel like it. Some people don’t even get the luxury of one meal a day and it saddens me. I always like to try and help out where I can.

House

When I come home from work I get to go into my own bedroom filled with things that belong to me! Not everyone has this luxury. Loads of people share rooms with other people and also might not even have their own bed. I do and that’s something I should be very grateful for!

Job

I am so grateful to have a job. Not just any job but a job that I love and am very passionate about. I know it can be difficult to find a job, I applied to so many before I got this one. So, I do feel for people who are searching. I don’t often think about the fact that I am incredibly lucky to have got such a great job that I look forward to going to every day.

These are things I occasionally take for granted as they have always been there. But, with Christmas coming up it’s definitely got me thinking.

What are some things that you take for granted? Let me know in the comments below!

Love,

Kirsty

  1. This is such an important post right now. It feels like I’ve been drowning in negativity and fear since Trump was elected, but there’s still so many things to be thankful about. Family is top of the list for me, too.

  2. These are such simple things we often forget to be grateful for e.g. Food – we take that for granted SO often. Thanks for the reminder to be grateful for everything.

  4. This is such a positive post. We really should be grateful about these things. We take so many of these for granted. We are actually blessed with a lot of things some people don’t have. We should be grateful. Xx

  5. Such a lovely post, when we get down its always good to sit back and realise what we have and what we should be grateful for. Although of course that doesn’t mean you can’t have issues or be upset, but yes it’s good to realise what good we have <3

  9. Kirsty, so true. You have made me realize again how blessed I am. Just waking up everyday is a blessing in itself. We are often quick to complain about what we don’t have BUT slow to say thank you and appreciate what we do have.

    1. Thank you so much! I was just thinking about it the other day – so much to be grateful for! πŸ™‚
