Halloween Scary Movie Ideas

I had a scary movie night with some friends this weekend and I had a whole lot of movies that I planned on watching. I chose them so that I could write this post and share some great movies with you. However, after we had caught up on each other’s lives and had dinner we only managed to watch one of the ten scary movies I had chosen. Now I know that these aren’t technically Halloween movies but they are scary movies that you can watch on Halloween so I think that counts!

1. The Conjuring

I’m going to start with this one because I watched it recently so it’s fresh in my mind. This movie is about a family that move into a beautiful (on the outside) farm house and notice strange things that start happening. They call on Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators, to take a look. This movie has won several awards and there is also a sequel, The Conjuring 2. There has also been a movie about the doll, Anabelle, who is in the film.

2. The Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal

I am going to write about both of these in one post because they are both centered around the characters of Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling. I’m not sure how much I can tell you about the film without spoiling it but basically Dr. Lecter is a cannibalistic killer. Clarice Starling, an FBI trainee, is sent to interview him to try and find information about a new serial killer. If you enjoy psychological thrillers then these movies are going to be perfect for you.

3. Sweeney Todd

Oh my goodness! This combines two of my favourite things – murder movies and musicals! If you don’t know what this movie is about then you are missing out! Sweeney Todd is a barber who, after leaving London, returns with a vengeance and with revenge on his mind. He meets Mrs Lovett, a struggling pie maker and together they form quite a formidable team. Also, the music is amazing and the songs are incredibly catchy!

4. The Glass House

I don’t really think that this would classify as a scary movie as I personally don’t find it very scary (although I don’t scare easily so I might not be the best judge). I do think that this is more of a thriller. Two children lose their parents in a car crash and move in with family friends. Ruby, the daughter, starts noticing that all is not well with the couple and with the situations that they are putting her and her brother in. She starts to investigate and that’s when things start to go wrong.

5. The Goonies

Okay so I know that this isn’t technically a scary movie, however, if you have watched this movie before you will probably know The Fratellis. Mama Fratelli is quite scary – in both her appearance and in her personality so I think that this movie could work quite well for Halloween as well! This is honestly one of my favourite movies and will give you lots of laughs as well as some tense moments actually!

Here are some other scary movies that you can watch but I have not watched any of these (although they were on my list) so I cannot vouch for them:

1. Perfume

2. A Kiss Before Dying

3. The Hills Have Eyes 1 and 2

4. Sinister

5. Poltergeist

What are your favourite Halloween or scary movies? Have you seen any of the scary movies on this list? Let me know in the comments!

Love,

Kirsty x
