Beauty Review: The Body Shop Advent Calendar 2022

One of my favourite Advent Calendars to buy is the one from The Body Shop. I’ve bought one for the last few years and I’ve loved it every year. Each year you get a variety of different products and some of them are definitely products I would never buy myself (mostly because they’re expensive). This way I get to try new products. The total cost of the products in the Advent Calendar is also way more than what you pay for it!

There are three different calendars to choose from which I really like. It means that you can choose one based on your budget. The one I bought was the Box of Wishes and Wonders and was the biggest one available last year.

How annoying is it that the hand cream labels are upside down?

Day 1: Avocado Shower Cream
This isn’t a scent that I would normally go for but I do actually quite like it. I’m excited to try this because I don’t think that I’ve ever used the Avocado range from The Body Shop before.

Day 2: Chamomile Cleansing Butter
I’ll be honest – last year we got one of these as well. The first time I used it, I was not impressed. However, after using it a few more times I decided that I really did like it. It removed my makeup and left my skin feeling soft. Also, it looks like a small tub – and it is – but you can actually get quite a lot of use out of it.

Day 3: Edelweiss Liquid Peel
Apparently this range used to be the Drops of Youth range. This product is supposed to lift and remove impurities, pollutants and dead skin cells. As someone who lives in smog city, I’m excited about that! After I’ve used it regularly, I think I’ll do a full review!

Day 4: Mango Hand Balm
I always have one of these in my hand bag and they’re always from these Advent Calendars. I love the hand cream from The Body Shop. It works so well and smells so good!

Day 5: Boost Hand Wash
I would never have bought this product. Just because I don’t see the point in buying a hand wash that’s so expensive. The one I currently use smells amazing and is a great price. However, I’m excited to try this one because maybe I’ll notice a difference? It would have to be pretty noticeable for me to change my current brand but we’ll see!

Day 6: Moringa Shampoo
I love this scent! In an Advent Calendar a few years ago we received something with this scent and I’ve loved it ever since. I like the shampoo and conditioner from The Body Shop and I almost always use it when I’m not using a purple shampoo.

Day 7: Strawberry Born Lippy
The lip products from The Body Shop are not my favourite. I just don’t feel like they work as well as I would like. They’re nice for a while but not for long term use. I still have 2 of these from last years calendar that I haven’t opened. I honestly just keep them for in case.

Day 8: Loofah
I use a loofah and this one seems nice enough. It’s made from material rather than the mesh normal loofahs are made from.

Day 9: Moringa Conditioner
As always, The Body Shop gives us a matching shampoo and contioner and I’m not complaining. They last a long time, they work well and they smell great!

Day 10: Vitamin E Toner
I don’t use a toner every day but I do use it most days when I’ve been wearing makeup. My one from last year finished a couple of days after I received this one, so the timing was perfect. This one is gentle and doesn’t have an overwhelming scent.

Day 11: Vitamin E Sheet Mask
The Body Shop love giving face masks and I love receiving them. I’m a huge fan of their masks and I’ve already added this to my growing stash.

Day 12: Mango Bath Blend
Another product that I probably wouldn’t have bought – this time for two reasons. One, it’s expensive. Two, I love this event, but I worry it might be a bit overwhelming to soak in a bath with it for long? I’ll try it out and then make a fair decision.

Day 13: British Rose Body Yoghurt
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I love this scent! It’s not overwhelming and it’s very delicate. We have received this product before in a previous calendar and I used the whole thing. It also takes forever to get through!

Day 14: Almond Milk Lip Care Stick
I’ve never tried a lip stick from The Body Shop before so I’m excited to try this one. I hope that it’s more hydrating than the other ones I’ve tried from them. And I hope that it can be used for longer periods of time before it needs to be changed.

Day 15: Konjac Sponge
I received one of these last year and I still haven’t used it. Honestly, even after reading the instructions I don’t know exactly how it works. My goal for 2023 is to actually try and review this!

Day 16: Himalayan Charcoal Mask
This is my absolute favourite mask. It leaves my skin leaving so soft and smooth. This year I was disappointed because they only gave us a small size. They did the same thing last year! Bring back the full size in the Advent Calendar, please! I can’t justify spending the money on it when I have so many others, but the small pot just isn’t enough!

Day 17: Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel
This scent is so fresh. It’s pretty strong but I like that you can still smell these scents when you get out of the shower. Also, I love shower gel.

Day 18: Mango Sugar Shower Scrub
I love using scrubs. I feel so clean after I’ve exfoliated. Honestly. Plus, this scent is such a good one. I don’t think I’ve tried one from The Body Shop before so I’m excited for this.

Day 19: Avocado Lotion to Oil
This is apparently just as it sounds. It is a cream that starts as a lotion and turns it to an oil as you rub it into your skin. I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t really give an opinion but it sounds interesting.

Day 20: British Rose Plumping Mask
I haven’t used this mask before but as it is in one of my favourite scents I am excited to try it. It is supposed to sooth, moisturise and tone your skin.

Day 21: Almond Milk Hand Cream
Another hand cream and I’m not complaining. I always have hand cream on me so it never hurts to have extras. It just means I rarely have to buy any.

Day 22: Edelweiss Sheet Mask
I think I might have used this face mask before, back when it was the Drops of Youth range. However, I can’t remember. Also I’m not sure if the formula has changed at all, so I’ll try it and decide.

Day 23: Himalayan Charcoal Peel
I am so excited about this. I love the mask so I can’t imagine this would be any different. You use this at night and it supposed to help to refine the appearance of uneven skin texture leaving your skin feeling softer and smoother.

Day 24: Shea Body Butter
I haven’t had much experience with using body butter and I think that I still have a full one from last year’s calendar. However, it’s always a good thing to have, and I’m not complaining.

Day 25: Sleep Pillow Mist
I would never have bought this because I wouldn’t have wanted to spend all of that money on something that might not work. However, I’m so excited to try this. I struggle to fall asleep and stay asleep and this is supposed to help with both. It does say that you should use it in conjunction with 3 other products – I’m guessing for maximum effect – but I’m going to try this one and see how it goes.

Overall I’m very happy with what I received in The Body Shop’s Advent Calendar last year. There were some firm favourites and some products that were new to me. Honestly I’m definitely getting it again this year, but I thought I’d write some pros and cons anyway – although the cons aren’t enough to make me not buy it!

Pros:
– worth the money
– mostly full size products
– good variety of products

Cons:
– lip products (just not my favourite)
– no makeup (this is where I wish they would give us lip products)
– small face masks pots (they’re so good that I want bigger ones)

Did you purchase an Advent Calendar this year? Have you tried one from The Body Shop before? Let me know in the comments.
