This year I bought a Revolution Advent Calendar for the first time. They have so many options which is great from a budget and personal preference point of view. I got the one called “You Are The Revolution.” The calendar was really pretty and I was excited about the prospect of getting new makeup. I also love Revolution as a brand which made the decision to get one of their Advent Calendars this year an easy one.
Here is what I got every day in my Revolution Advent Calendar. I haven’t tried everything out yet but I’m definitely excited to.
Day 1: Lipstick (Baby)
This colour is really pretty and definitely something that I would wear. Plus, Revolution’s lip products are generally very good!
Day 2: Contour Powder
I have never contoured before so I’m not sure if I’ll be using this product. It also might be a bit dark for me. But perhaps this is a great time to experiment with contour??
Day 3: Mirror
This is a cute mirror that I could use to travel. However, I also got one in an Advent Calendar last year and I haven’t used that one yet either.
Day 4: Brush
I’m guessing this is an eyeshadow brush. I love the design. I don’t really need new brushes but it’s pretty, so I’ll use it.
Day 5: Brow Pencil
I’ve never tried these brow pencils before but I always love trying new products. I haven’t used a brow pencil in a while so I’ll see how it goes!
Day 6: Lip Oil
I don’t really use lip oils but because I have this one I’ll give it a go.
Day 7: Brush
This was another eyeshadow brush and it was also really pretty. So of course I’ll be using it. I like to keep some spare brushes, you never know. Also, I cannot actually remember which brush I got on which day…Whoops!
Day 8: Lipstick (Chaffeur)
This is another beautiful lip colour that I will definitely wear. Another colour that is similar to the colours that I usually wear.
Day 9: Eye Primer
I don’t normally use an eye primer but I want to start. I’m excited to try this because I’m hoping it’ll help my eye shadow stay looking good for longer.
Day 10: Brow Gel
I normally use a brow gel so I’m excited to see if this one works well.
Day 11 and 12: Cream Eyeshadow
To be honest, I can’t remember which colour I got on which day but both colours are gorgeous! I never use a cream eyeshadow but I’m so excited to use these!
Day 13: Lip Gloss (Pout)
I love lip glosses and it’s something that I never normally buy. So I’m excited to wear this one!
Day 14: Blush Palette
I’m so excited for this! At the moment I only have one blush so I’m looking forward to trying all of the colours in here. They’re so pretty!
Day 15: Highlighter
I do actually have quote a few highlighters, but honestly can you ever have too many? Plus this one is really pretty!
Day 16: Brow Crayon
I’m guessing this is similar to a brow gel, but just in crayon form? I suppose this might be for using just to put over your brows without colour? Honestly, I’m not 100% sure. But I’ll try it out anyway.
Day 17: Primer Base
At the moment I use the same primer every day. The only thing I don’t like with this one is that I have no idea what primer this actually is. Is it a regular Revolution one? If so, which one is it? I wish they were more specific in the Advent Calendars.
Day 18: Lipliner (Chauffeur)
We were given the lipstick so it makes sense to get the lipliner too. I don’t often use a lipliner but I’ll try this one and see if I like the look.
Day 19 and 20: Matte Liquid Lip
I got the shades Baby and Chaffeur which was confusing to me because we already got these in tube form. Why did we get the same lipsticks twice but in different formulas? I feel like they could have given us two completely different shades instead of giving us the same again. Especially since we got so many lip products in this calendar.
Day 21: Beauty Blender
I don’t normally use a beauty blender anymore but I think it’s always good to have one. Plus, I’ve been seeing some makeup hacks with these so maybe I’ll give them a try.
Day 22: Lipliner (Baby)
Another lipliner to match the lipstick shades that we have. So I’ll be trying them out together to see how it works.
Day 23: Lip Scrub
These are really great, particularly during Winter time. I’ll definitely be using this!
Day 24: Eyeliner
I don’t normally wear eyeliner but I’ll try this one out. Honestly, because I don’t often use eyeliner I do wish they had given us a fun colour, just for something different. However, I can’t complain about the product overall.
Day 25: Advent Calendar
On the last day of the Advent Calendar I received an eyeshadow palette. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and are definitely colours that I would use. I use Revolution eyeshadows every day so I already know that I like them.
Overall I’m glad that I tried this Advent Calendar. Will I try it again next year? I’m not sure. I really liked it, but with so many lip products and duplicate shades I feel like they missed something. Let’s see how I feel at the end of the year! Was it good value for money? Sure, in that you got a lot of products. But again, too many lip products that were essentially the same.
Pros:
– beautiful packaging
– mostly full size products
– no unnecessary products
– gorgeous shades
Cons:
– the Advent Calendar could not stand up without the boxes falling out
– there were a lot of lip products (9) and I wish they had given us more of other products instead of so many for lips
– duplicate lip shades, just in different formulas
– they show you pictures of some of the products on the sleeve of the Advent Calendar – spoilers!
